The T.M.C. Asser Institute is welcoming abstracts for its panel “Emerging Voices in Private International Law”, as part of the Institute’s 60-year anniversary conference on “Adapting private international law in an era of uncertainty”. PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers may submit a 400-word abstract by 15 August 2025 for the opportunity to present in The Hague on 24 October 2025.
The panel will showcase two early career scholars and their original research in private international law. Selected presenters will be invited to develop their topic into a chapter for a forthcoming volume in the Short Studies in Private International Law series.
Submissions are open to PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers within five years of completing their doctorate. Abstracts should address any topic within private international law. The selection process will focus on originality and clarity.
Applicants must submit:
- A title for the presentation
- Full name and institutional affiliation
- Academic status (PhD candidate or postdoctoral researcher)
- Contact details
- Abstract of no more than 400 words
Please send your application to e.silva.de.freitas@asser.nl before 24.00 hrs CET on Friday 15 August 2025.
The panel takes place on Friday 24 October 2025 in the Mandela Room at the T.M.C. Asser Instituut, The Hague. Presentations will last twenty minutes, followed by audience feedback. The session will cap off a day of discussion on how private international law can adapt to technological change, social inequality and global uncertainty.
Unfortunately, no travel costs will be reimbursed.
Dr Vesna Lazic and Eduardo Silva de Freitas LL.M., the organisers of the conference, encourage early career researchers to seize this chance to contribute to scholarly debate and to network with leading experts in the field.
